Why Support a Drive Smart Program?

Drive Smart and Save supports several Massachusetts' initiatives, including its Global Warming Solutions Act, Clean Energy & Climate Plan for 2020, Department of Transportation's GreenDOT greenhouse gas emissions and fuel reduction goals, and the 2010 New England Governors' Conference Resolution No. 194 supporting smart driving practices.

Smart Driving reduces carbon and other air quality emissions, vehicles miles traveled (VMT), oil dependency, traffic congestion, fuel use and expenses, vehicle and road wear and tear, property damage, injuries, insurance and medical costs. The program also costs government very little to run, relying on personal and corporate responsibility to achieve these benefits.
