Safe Routes to School Manual
Walking School Bus Kit
The SRTS Manual is a user-friendly guide to starting and maintaining a Safe Routes to School program. This resource describes for parents, teachers, principals and community members how to develop a Safe Routes to School program adaptable to school and community needs. The Walking School Bus Kit provides information on how to form Walking School Buses and provides materials to help organize and sustain the program.

Webinars
Safe Routes to School is now on YouTube! Click here the following links to watch our web video series geared towards educators, parents, and community leaders who are deicated to bringing the Safe Routes to School program to their communities.
Surveys
Surveys are a large component of compiling comprehensive data on both national and local efforts of the Safe Routes to School Program. Student Surveys are conducted twice a year in the classroom and gather information on students modes of travel to and from school. Optional Parent Surveys gauge general information from parents regarding school travel.

The Walkability Checklist is used to help identify preferred routes for students and parents to walk to and from school. The Bikability Checklist is used to help identify preferred routes for students and parents to bicycle to and from school. The Safe Routes to School Checklist offers helpful steps for developing a Safe Routes program.
